There is no better time to watch outdoor movies in Tampa than during the spring and summer months. With spring now launching itself upon the city, it’s time to review some of the best Tampa movie night venues that hold outdoor movie events. Don’t forget to bring some chairs and a blanket when attending an outdoor movie, and enjoy a fun and affordable experience with family or loved ones.

Green Bench Beer Garden Movie Nights

Sit outside and sip on a Green Bench brew while you enjoy a movie night on the lawn of their St. Pete brewery. Movie nights occur on select Wednesday nights October through December. Movies begin at 7:30pm.

Dive-In Movies at Tradewinds Beach Resort

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 6:30pm, the beachfront pool at Island Grand Beach Resort becomes a dive-in movie theater for guests at the resort to enjoy outdoor movies. Movie listings are available on site and guests can purchase popcorn and drinks to enjoy from the comfort of their own raft or pool lounge.

St. Pete Outdoor Movies in the Park

Every Thursday evening at Straub Park in Downtown St. Petersburg, during May and October, St. Pete Preservation creates an outdoor movie theater for all to see. The event begins around 6pm with the movie starting at dusk. Get there early, though! With this fun and lively community event being free, it is wildly popular and fills up quickly!

Silver Moon Drive-In Theater

A drive-in theater is a great way to enjoy outdoor movies. At Lakeland’s Silver Moon Drive-In Theater, moviegoers can pick from two screens featuring a nightly double feature of different first run movies using your car’s FM radio. The concession area is stocked with affordably priced beverages (including beer!), popcorn and other snacks.

On a chilly night, you can even get hot cocoa. The Silver Moon also hosts a weekly swap shop during the day on Saturdays and Sundays. If you want to enjoy dinner before the show, head out early to visit Lakeland’s cool food hall, The Joinery. It’s about a 15-minute drive from the theater.

Admission is $7 per adult ($3 per kiddo ages 5 and up) and includes both movies.

Love the idea of a drive-in theater? There’s a few more in the area worth checking out!
